Texas Executes Mexican for Murder Despite President Fox's Plea. In a case that has strained Mexico's relations with the United States, a Mexican citizen was executed in Texas Wednesday night by lethal injection. By Ginger Thompson.

Things like this make me so proud to live in the US in general and Texas in particular.  Dripping sarcasm at this point.  I can't believe we still think that the death penalty is at all discouraging.  Clearly, it isn't.  Most people commit death penalty crimes in a rage or passion and aren't think about the consequences.

Plus, the fact that innocent people are constantly getting cleared from death row should scare the shit out of people.   Not to mention the fact that the so-called "justice" is meted out in a terribly racial way.  Our penal system is clearly set up to emphasize retribution and justice instead of rehabilitation.  And look at how many of our own citizens we lock up.

This is sickening. . .

Working on a .Net project at work as well as at home and I think that I'm getting better though still not very employable at all.  I've learned a great deal of XML at work lately and that makes me feel good about the career path.  Random thought. . . .

Great progress this evening, both physically and on the website.  Did my first "brick" this evening which involves doing two of the sports of tri back to back.  Rode about 10 miles in cycling class and then ran 2.5 miles on the treadmill.  Pretty pumped about that.  And then on top of all that, I figured out my DataGrid problem.  It's a hack but hell, it works for me.  Now I just have to log it to the database and start in on the winners stuff.  Very cool.
