Wow, can you say asshole? I knew you could. . .two things give me pause about this. . .first of all, the last paragraph says Dillon has the second highest number of carries in the league over the last two years. . .then if you scroll back up to the title, you get "RB upset by limited carries since '97". . .ummmm so the title is ridiculous since he hasn't had limited carries and Dillon is a selfish asshole who is clearly a cancer to his team (though the Bungles management are clearly a bigger cancer than he could ever be). . .

Suddenly I'm glad we didn't trade for him, what a loser. . .

"Family should let them go with dignity". . .things like this would go a long ways when dealing with issues like the Florida issue posted about below. . .

Senate passes abortion bill and already the left is up in arms about "THE END OF ROE?!". . .if you find yourself agreeing with them, read this before making a decision. . .

Roe never was a complete pass on abortion, it actually said that abortions in the third trimester, the so-called "partial birth abortions", could be proscribed by the states. . .it is up for discussion whether it's the place of the federal legislature to be passing this law but Roe itself did not prevent it from happening. . .therefore, this is not an erosion of Roe or an erosion of a woman's right to choose. . .

I understand the position of those who believe this may be an erosion of rights, similar to arguments made by anti-gun control advocates. . .however, I believe there is a difference here in that the 2nd Amendment clearly states the right to keep and bear arms while Roe clearly states that the states could choose to prevent third term abortions "EXCEPT WHERE NECESSARY, IN APPROPRIATE MEDICAL JUDGMENT, FOR THE PRESERVATION OF THE LIFE OR HEALTH OF THE MOTHER."

While many of the critics of this bill claim that there is no provision for the health of the mother, it is my belief that the original Roe decision involving a clear directive regarding the health of the mother in the third trimester would supercede this bill just passed. . .

I'd be interested in the views of someone with more experience with the law concerning the constitutionality of this federal law versus a states' rights approach, i.e. is this bill unconstitutional because the federal legislature passed this bill instead of individual state legislatures. . .

Florida woman's feeding tube reinserted. . .

To me, this seems like a huge overstepping of the boundary between the legislative and judicial branches in the state of Florida. . .Several courts had refused to block the removal of the tube. . .This NY Times article (requires free registration) seems to indicate what the legislature did was unconstitutional. . .I saw a quote recently by member of the Florida legislature that what they were doing was fixing the mistake of the judical branch. . .which they HAVE NO RIGHT TO DO. . .

This reminds me of a recent episode in the Democratic debates when Gephardt claimed he would overturn any wrong decisions made by the Supreme Court with an executive order. . .the Florida legislature seems to be on more than shaky ground here, passing an extremely narrow law with no real general application that is in direct conflict with several judicial decisions. . .I expect to see this overturned. . .

Update: Yup
