HHS Awards $21.85 Million To Fund Minority Substance Abuse/HIV Prevention Programs
HHS press release - "Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy G. Thompson today awarded almost $21.85 million in grants to support effective substance abuse prevention services that are integrated with HIV prevention services directed at youth and other at-risk populations in minority communities. Grant money will also be targeting creation of prevention infrastructure in affected communities."

Federal help sought for indigents' care (Oklahoma)
Story in The Oklahoman on how the federal government is being asked to pay for indigent health care services as one way to avoid Medicaid cuts scheduled to begin Nov. 1 for 79,700 poor Oklahomans, a shift that will involve programs in the state Department of Human Services, the state Health Department, and the state Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services Department.![]()
