After two years, Winter has returned

Click for Anchorage, Alaska Forecast

It is -4 at our house. The automatic thermostat on our furnace hasn't adjusted to the temperature change. The house is 69 this morning instead of the usual toasty 73. (I'm certainly glad we replaced our 30-year old furnace this fall.) I'm cold. This may mean crawling back under the covers.

Oh, yes, now I remember why I wanted my new living room window treatment to include the Warm Windows fabric. It will be another month or so before they arrive. This morning their cost does not seem so outlandish. I now remember how much cold the wall and a half of floor to ceiling windows radiate. Our current, old (the original equipment--30 years) loosely woven, unlined drapes have always been simply a psychological barrier against the cold windows. Okay, while I'm cold this morning, I should transfer the balance of the payment for my new Warm Windows. After all it might be a warm day when the bill arrives and I will wonder what on earth I was thinking about.
