Turntables
Do you even know/remember what they are? I have rediscovered mine and am thoroughly enjoying it. I have all these 33 1/3s by artists who have been here over the past upteen years thanks to the Anchorage Concert Association.
Those records bring back fabulous memories. My memories seem to be stored in their grooves rather than on the flat, slick surface of a CD.
I have just finished listening to a Richard Tucker album, The Exodus Song. I can still remember his walking on stage at the West High School auditorium stage, taking his place by the piano, nodding to his accompanist, facing the audience, and singing the first few notes. At that moment I realized I was experiencing a once-in-a-life-time performance. (There have been only two others.)
