Infomobs - I wonder why we haven't seen this word around? Howard Rheingold's "smart mobs" may have begun as flash mobs a couple of years ago - although this article in the Wikipedia on flash mobs is much better than the hyperlink.  Anyway, I've been waiting expectantly for infomobs to emerge but haven't yet seen either the word or them around.  Why are infomobs on my mind?  Here's the short story: I was browsing through the IA column in the latest ASIST Bulletin where Dillon mentions Infomania - yikes, what a sickness, I thought.  Then, for no reason the Wikipedia folks building all these content pages collaboratively came to mind and I remembered my first intro to the wiki for collaborative digital library building more than 6 years ago.  From there the similarities to smart mobs just seemed to follow. But when I googled it, there was no infomob as I seemed to be thinking of it.  Although there were some companies with the name - esp. a Public Relations firm!
