There's a research snippet on selective exposure at the OALibrarian blog, and I'd meant to talk a bit about the statistics used in the two studies reported (a survey and an experiment) as well as about selective exposure in other disciplines especially economics (bounded rationality and satisficing - evidence for which information seeking behaviors research has also reported).  But it's been a long week and instead I'm just going to write about one of the very nice things that happened.  It's always a pleasure to hear from former students and this week was especially very rewarding.  I finally put up the nice postcard of the University of Florida one of my students had sent (he's joined the Cataloging and Metadata Dept. in the Library). Another one interning at Fort Lewis College, Colorado excitedly emailed me on reading OALibrarian. Additionally, I was reminded of the Russian state library request to publish a student paper and emails from two different supervisors for two students whom I'd served as references about how pleased they were with my students! Very heartening news. Thank you!
