Well, I never! It's official (long time until April 1, isn't it? - although some of the doctors' names are a little fishy). Anyway, this is very encouraging news for a lot of guys who would dearly like to help ladies reduce their chances of getting breast cancer!
UPDATE (30 Oct 2003). Yep, too good to be true, it was a hoax - but a very well executed hoax. The student who perpetrated it is in trouble, with CNN, AP and his university coming down on him like a ton of bricks (pun?), as described here. The page has been heavily modified with apologies/excuses, and reduced to plain text, which diminishes the impact somewhat, but the original "CNN" version is still in the Goggle cache here.
Another Update (17 Jan 2004). Even the cached version has disappeared. In the interests of historical accuracy, here's a PDF file with the original spoof article.
