TESTING: Chris Terry, Carolina Panthers

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Associated Press reports Carolina Panthers offensive lineman Chris Terry has been tested for drugs more than a dozen times by the NFL in recent months, according to court papers filed by his estranged wife in a domestic violence case. The allegation comes as the couple square off in civil court. Nyquell Jackson-Terry has accused her husband of breaking down a bedroom door in July while armed with a handgun and pushing her into a wall at their south Charlotte home.

Terry faces an assault charge stemming from an episode last July at the couple's home. His wife also has gone to civil court to secure a domestic violence order directing him to stay away from her for a year.

PLEA DEAL: Tawny Kitaen

LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. – Associated Press reports actress Tawny Kitaen agreed Wednesday to a plea bargain on spousal abuse and battery charges alleging she attacked her husband, St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Chuck Finley. Under the deal, Kitaen did not admit guilt but agreed to enter a spousal battery counseling program. If she completes the program and other conditions of the deal, the case could eventually be dropped.

The bargain also requires Kitaen, 40, to avoid contact with her husband, stay away from their Newport Beach home and return to court in December for a progress report.

SEARCH WARRANT: Pierre Pierce, Chauncey Leslie, Iowa Basketball

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Des Moines Register reports Iowa City police investigating a report of a possible sexual assault served a warrant last week at the residence of two members of the University of Iowa men's basketball team. Police on Tuesday declined to comment on the nature of the warrant, but acknowledged an investigation is underway involving a duplex at 725 Orchard St. in Iowa City. The two basketball players - Pierre Pierce and Chauncey Leslie - were contacted Tuesday at the residence and confirmed they lived there. Each denied, however, knowing anything about a warrant or investigation.

The police involvement at the residence of Pierce and Leslie marks the latest in a string of on- and off-court concerns related to the Iowa men's basketball program.

IMPLICATED: Pittsburgh Steeler Front Office

PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports the attorney for a former Delmont man convicted of operating a scam that bilked Pittsburgh Steelers fans who tried to purchase season tickets said Tuesday that workers in the team's front office may have been involved in the scam. Stephan Swintosky, 26, did not speak with reporters as he turned himself in to Westmoreland County authorities who earlier this month issued a warrant for his arrest, but attorney Joe Duva told reporters yesterday morning that his client was just a middle man in what he called an elaborate operation that bilked Steelers fans out of more than $213,000 for season tickets.

CHARGED: Rev. James "Mad Dog" Talbot, Former Prep Coach

BOSTON -- Boston Herald reports a Jesuit priest who taught and coached at Boston College High School is expected to surrender on a child rape charge Thursday following his indictment yesterday for allegedly molesting three students more than two decades ago. The Rev. James Talbot, who was nicknamed ``Mad Dog'' by BC High students when Talbot taught and coached at the school between 1972 and 1980, facing one count of child rape, one count of assault with intent to rape and five counts of indecent assault and battery, according to David Procopio, a spokesman for Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel Conely.

 UPDATE: Bison Dele, Former NBA

PAPEETE, Tahiti -- Associated Press reports prosecutors in Tahiti made the decision to open a murder investigation into the disappearance of former NBA player Bison Dele based on comments from the former girlfriend of Dele's older brother. The police official told the Los Angeles Times (link requires registration) that Erica Weise told the FBI that Dele's older brother, Miles Dabord, informed her in a telephone conversation of a struggle aboard Dele's boat, the Hakuna Matata, that resulted in the deaths of Dele, his girlfriend, Serena Karlan, and the boat's captain, Bertrand Saldo.

Dabord reportedly deflected blame from himself, claiming during the phone call that the fight was started by Dele, the Times reported.

CHARGES DROPPED: Scott Volkers, Australian Olympic Swim Coach

BRISBANE, Australia -- Associated Press reports Scott Volkers, the Australian swimming coach who trained Olympic medalists Susie O'Neill and Samantha Riley, was cleared of indecent assault charges Wednesday. Volkers was committed to stand trial in July on seven counts of indecent dealing with three girls under the age of 16, but judicial officials said all charges had been dropped because they wouldn't stand up in court.

CHARGED: Brandy Reed, Former WNBA

HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Associated Press reports Brandy Reed, a former WNBA All-Star whose career was sidetracked by behavioral problems, was jailed Wednesday on outstanding warrants after her arrest on disorderly conduct charges. Reed, the Phoenix Mercury's top scorer in 2000 and a Southern Mississippi star, was arrested when officers, investigating burglaries, stopped her on a street to ask for identification, police Lt. David Morris said. Reed used a different name and was taken to the county jail, where she was correctly identified, police said. In the outstanding warrants, Reed was charged with possession of a controlled substance and driving on the wrong side of the road.

CHARGED: Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Cleveland Cavaliers

BAY VILLAGE, Ohio -- Associated Press reports Cleveland Cavaliers center Zydrunas Ilgauskas was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence. Ilgauskas, 27, was stopped at 3:59 a.m. Sunday for erratic driving in Bay Village, Ohio, and he failed field sobriety tests, police Lt. John Dixon said. Dixon said a Breathalyzer test showed that Ilgauskas, of Avon Lake, Ohio, had a blood-alcohol level in excess of 0.10, Ohio's legal limit. Ilgauskas was alone in the vehicle and cooperated with police.

SHOT: Matt Sylvester, Ohio State Basketball

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Associated Press reports Ohio State forward Matt Sylvester suffered a minor gunshot wound after a fight broke out at a party on September 1, the school announced Tuesday. Sylvester, a 6-7 redshirt freshman from Loveland, Ohio, was at a party with high school friends in his hometown when a fight ensued. The gunman started randomly shooting and a pellet struck Sylvester in the buttocks as he attempted to drive away.

CHARGED: Kimisha Hatfield, Girlfriend of Ron Artest, NBA

CARMEL, Ind. -- Associated Press reports Ron Artest's girlfriend was arrested and charged with hitting and scratching the Indiana Pacers forward. Kimisha Hatfield, 27, the mother of two of Artest's children, was arrested Sunday at the home where she was staying with Artest. Two months ago, Artest was charged in New York with two counts of harassment and one count of criminal contempt for allegedly leaving a threatening phone message for another woman. At the time, Artest was under court order not to bother that woman, the mother of another of his children.
