Allen K. Korhonen has been appointed Deputy Director of the Utah Department of Health (UDOH). He fills the position vacated by Dr. Scott D. Williams, who was appointed UDOH Executive Director in October. Korhonen has worked with the Department intermittently over the last few years under contracts related to general staff training.

"Allen has just the right mix of experience, skills and interests to help lead the Department through this period of political transitions, said Scott D. Williams, M.D., Executive Director, Utah Department of Health. "We are fortunate to have him join us." Korhonen has previous executive level experience in state health and welfare agencies in both Idaho and Alaska. He served as Deputy Director of the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare and Deputy Commissioner for Management Services for the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services.

Korhonen will focus on improving efficiency and customer service in UDOH operations and regulatory activities. He will oversee the Department’s health care system licensing activities as well as central support functions including human resources, finance, information technology, and facilities management.
