SALT LAKE CITY - The Web site for the Utah Department of Transportation (www.udot.utah.gov) received the 2004 "Best of State" medal for its contributions to transportation services. The Best of State Awards recognize outstanding individuals, organizations and businesses that exemplify innovative thinking and dedication in providing services to Utahns.

UDOT’s current Web site was redesigned in October 2003. The organization, navigation and graphic design was created through significant internal discussion and outside research to ensure that important information be available and easily accessible. The Web site is a key tool of the Department in its communications with individuals and communities about construction projects, traffic impacts, public meetings and business opportunities.

Feedback from users has been overwhelmingly positive. The site has had over 250,000 hits since October. Local contractors and consultants have been enthusiastic about the redesign and have collaborated with the Department to create a web template for all UDOT construction studies and projects. Local media members have expressed their approval of the site and rely upon the timeliness and accuracy of the information it provides.
