Kudos to my bro Ben on the new journal Jowai:

"the journal of words and images (OCC's first publication) is seeking your artwork, photography, poems, essays, etc for issue number 1.

2 versions will be produced:
a free pocket sized, printer and copier friendly version, and a larger full color version."

Alf Eaton has some interesting comments at Hublog today in response to the lifestyle aggregator.

Highlights:

  • RSS Buckets
  • SMIL Playlists
  • FOAF through Spring

Alf, is correct, EXIF is the closest thing we have to a common image metadata - it even has GPS attribute info which could be used to define location.  But it is still missing some things.... like the ability to define areas of the picture belonging to a subject.  I'd love to go into an editor, make a selection around the subject and label it.

To clarify questions about application history and websites visited: I'd like a historical log of my Operating System.  What applications where running when, what documents did I have open, which piece of code did I touch.  Some of this already is taken care of in Microsoft Outlook's Journal which picks up office applications.  I live by this application.  Imagine being able to keep track of your timesheets at work without having to fill them out... knowing when you opened that email from Great Aunt Emma... the website you visited on October 1st, 2000 that sold the hard to find coffee from Kenya.

Dean Campaign Blog Brainstorms Smartmobbing.

"Jon Stahl pointed out this fantastic thread on Howard Dean's campaign blog, his supporters from around the country (173 comments so far) are dropping great tips for online organizing tools. They already have one of the most successful social toolsets built to date. Dean is dominating the battle for web dominance. In a very open way, they used a thread to harvest ideas and energy from supporters."
