Audio Blogging

Trying out the audblog. It works with Radio and Blogger, others coming Real Soon Now (Moveable Type may already be supported).

My first audblog post.

Interesting. This was posted from my cell phone, and the sound quality is much better than I thought it would be. The process is a bit involved. You call the audblog number, log in using your keypad, follow the prompts, and say your piece. Then hit #. Follow some more prompts to "post" - which actually causes audblog to email you a link to your recorded entry. You have the option to do another post or end the session.

A few minutes later (depending on how well email is being delivered) you get an email with a link in it. Copy and paste this into your blog entry and post it "for real" to your blog. (Could I change the email address the links are sent to so that Radio's "email to blog" feature would handle the posting? - but the posts would still have to be edited.) The recordings are saved as mp3 files, so they work with MS Media Player. Don't know what RA users get if they try to listen to the entry if they don't have MS Media Player set up to handle MP3s.

I can think of some ways I can use this to support my business, if I write out scripts to facilitate leaving a post that anyone would care to listen to. I am not the greatest impromptu speaker -- I need notes! But it's $3 a month in order to leave 12 posts, and each post is limited to two minutes (got to get right to the point, another thing in favor of my doing posts from notes, so I don't ramble on). You can buy additional posts in blocks of twelve 2-minute (max) posts. Could I get mileage out of this to support "on-demand" messages for prospects? This would be cheaper by far than the dedicated voice mail I have used in the past, since there is no additional charge for each *listener*. What about those who can't access mp3 files or don't have speakers or are in a place where they can't connect? And two minutes -- gee. They might have to listen to several clips to get all the information they want. Still, the links could be placed in an article posted to the blog.

I can make anything complicated.

Audio Blogging

Not sure if it's compatible with Radio just yet. Email and ask. Twelve 2-minute posts to your weblog per month for $3. Additional blocks available: same deal - 12 more posts of 2 minutes each for another $3. Blog by phone from any telephone in the US.

Surveys in Radio Userland

Hey! Cool! you can develop and publish surveys in Userland. Choose the "New" link here, link to it in Weblog.

Cassandra Goth from The SimsStart Menu News Aggregator for Radio. If you're an adventurous guy or gal, you can try out the new Start Menu user interface for the aggregator. I've been using it without a glitch for the last couple of days. It's nice! The caveats are that to configure it (you may not have to) you have to use Radio's object database, there's no browser interface. If pressed, I may actually make a Web interface. Also looking for a volunteer to make it work on the Mac (my Mac is in storage in Calif). [Scripting News]
