Writeboard launches today.

You'll be hearing a lot about Writeboard this week. Writeboard is a collaborative environment for writing. There are several others, and we can probably expect to see more such systems announced in the next few weeks.

But don't get too carried away by the hype. Here's Brian Benzinger's bottom line:

"Conclusion. Writeboard is definitely useful for any kind of writing. But, it certainly is no JotSpot Live when it comes to collaboration. Say you are working on an essay, chapter of a book, a blog post, section of your site, a paper for work, anything that involves writing, this will come in handy. You know what would be great? The next essay I have to write for college, I will send it to my professor through writeboard. This way, instead of them scribbling on my paper, they can now do it nice and organized through the writeboard and I can easily see the changes my professor has made."

Scoble summarizes:

37signals intelligently react to initial reactions to Writeboard.

Brian Benzinger of Solution Watch did a good review of 37signals Writeboard. I wrote about it earlier this evening after playing with it for a few minutes. I predicted that lots of other blogs would write about Writeboard, and I was right. Or is that write? Heheh. Memeorandum is already bulging with lots of reviews of Writeboard.

Robin Good's List of New Media for October 2, 2005.

I liked this one for home-based entrepreneurs who are long on ideas but short on production gear:

On-Demand DVD Publishing

CustomFlix is a company enabling anyone wanting to sell her own DVDs to outsource complete production and shipping duties. The company simply takes your self-produced master material and it prints, packages and ships your own DVDs as orders from your customers come in, eliminating completely your inventory and shipping costs. CustomFlix allows independent DVD producers to set their own prices, and can accommodate both large and small production requests.
