Harald Hau's Quotes of the Day from Corporate Finance
[when discussing stripped bonds, the deconstruction of a bond and its coupon payments into distinct entities in order to redistribute risk] "Can anyone explain what stripping is? (Snickers.) With respect to bonds?"
Today's class was not so funny. Lucky was extremely tired, so tired, he just put his head on his hand for what seemed to be just a few seconds, until he opened his eyes and realized that the professor was making jokes about him. I had been fast asleep for about ten minutes. The professor made a few jokes; I searched desperately for a witty response, but as I had just awoken, none was forthcoming. About an hour later I figured that I should have said, "I knew they gave me decaf!" but by then class had ended.
I'm now known as the guy who fell asleep in Finance class. Not the best reputation, as you could imagine, but I suppose it is good motivation to say something scintillating in the next class.
