Silly-ass lawyers, part 1
A new web site has been set up for the purpose of attracting plaintiffs for anticipated lawsuits against the makers of the Segway, aka "It", aka Ginger. (Thanks to Overlawyered.com.) Never mind that very few of these devices are in use. Never mind that no injuries of any kind have been reported.
The site is sponsored by USA Immigration Law Center, a group which claims to be a "leading full-service US Immigration and Incorporation law firm", and confidently announces:
"The USAILC is a successful corporate law firm preparing to specialize in another area. We expect to be at the forefront of suits featuring the invention widely known as 'It'. . . Get ready to Sue-It!"
But of course this is not a corporate law firm at all, and it is surely far from successful. It is a small immigration practice, apparently at the margins. A successful law firm has no need to try to recast itself in such a radical and preposterous direction.
As best we can tell from the USAILC's web site, the firm consists of two lawyers, one in Washington and one in Baltimore.
It appears that this firm's "Sue-It" web site is nothing more than an effort to garner some publicity for this insignificant duo, which has been in business only since May 2001. We presume that these two have not been able to make a go of the mass-market internet-based immigration practice.
