Chemical terrorist attack in Michigan
A Grand Rapids supermarket meat processor has been indicted by a Federal grand jury for adding Black Leaf insecticide to over 200 lbs. of ground beef that he made at the supermarket where he worked. It was put out for sale and was sold, and more than 40 people were stricken.
A local television station reports:
U. S. Attorney Margaret Chiara says 38-year-old Randy J. Bertram injected insecticide into the beef before it was sold at the Family Fare store on 84th Street. Bertram was working at the store when authorities say he poisoned the meat on New Year's Eve.
He's facing two federal felonies, poisoning meat with insecticde and poisoning meat to injure a business. The first charge is punishable by up to 20 years in prison, the second, three years.
Predictably and reflexively, news reports have declared him a "disgruntled employee". When has any happy and satisfied employee ever been described as "gruntled"?
