A Detroit police office who developed a web site devoted to the cause of ousting the Chief of Police has been suspended without pay, and may be fired. He had been suspended with pay since July. The Board of Police Commissioners upheld the suspension and increased the penalty, rejecting the officer's claim that his activity was protected under the First Amendment.
The site criticized the Chief on policy issues, but also included personal attacks and, in a move reminiscent of the Nuremberg Files, published his home address and where his children attended school. The Chief's justifed complaint: "It was egregious behavior and undermines my authority". (Source - Detroit News)
