Counting Down
Just over 12 hours left in the year 2002. I'm working a half day from home, then getting back to the party preparations. Once again, we are having a New Year's Party. This is a family tradition that goes hand-in-hand with my stewardship of the Pat Mahoney Christmas Tree, built over 30 years ago in New Jersey. (I would like to document the tree, but I am hoping to patent it first, which I think my father wanted to do. Which reminds me: Rene, where is that lawyer's phone number? Thanks.)
2002 has been good to Sandy and me. We remained employed in our chosen fields, stayed pretty healthy, had nice visits with family and friends throughout the year, there were no personal disasters, and we've wrapped it up with a bounty of gifts (more on that in a couple of days).
By the way, Andy Summers is 60 -- six zero! -- years old today, which means the Message in a Box set is playing on the home office boombox.
Our New Year's parties have built up a great reputation, which keeps our friends driving down from Broward (mostly) each year despite the legendary South Beach parking hassles. Last year we had the pleasure of listening to DJ Danny Bled, a great DJ who happens to be an old friend of our circle of friends. Danny is busy this year -- he'll be tied up at a fetish party in Boca, ha ha -- but we have secured Joe Shockley, who also goes back many years with our crowd.
New flash: Susan just informed me that Jasmine will tend bar for us tonight. This is great news! As Susan says, "You won't find a more entertaining bartender." I'm sorry your other plans fell through Jasmine, but... I'm not sorry!
I'll be sure to take some pictures tonight with the digicam we bought ourselves for Christmas. Tune back in a few days.
