The Perfect VC

Tony Perkins of AlwaysOn recently interviewed Roger McNamee of Silver Lake Partners regarding the characteristics of a successful venture capitalist.  McNamee's point is that there is no one way to be successful in the venture capital industry because it is inherently an intensely personal business in which core relationships can't be delegated:

The key thing is to match yourself to entrepreneurs who can be leveraged by your strengths.

It follows that entrepreneurs should follow a similar logic when choosing a VC.  How do the strengths of the individual VC complement yours?  Is he or she going to be there when needed, or are they likely to delegate the relationship before the ink is dried on the stock purchase agreement?
