Most of the severe weather is gone. Radar doesn't show much at this point. Now Greene county is in a Flash Flood warning. This is the worst weather here in years.

Rain. Wind. Rain. Wind. Wind. Not as scared now.

Large cell near Mt. Vernon, MO will probably be in Springfield by 7:40. I've turned off local coverage for a bit to escape some hype. I'll monitor the online radar images and my weather radio.
Speaking of radio, my friend Tim Smith works for KKLH-FM here in Springfield. Email him some words of encouragement while he works to keep things updated. He also does volunteer work for our local emergency management group. What a guy to have around at a time like this.

Getting first signs of thunder now in Springfield, MO. Watching the radar and weather coverage makes me wonder about my safety. The lower thunderstorms are just about over us now, but don't appear to pose the threat of those passing through Polk county. No torndao warnings yet. I told my wife, "Nothing in this house is as important as you." I meant it, but didn't know why I spit it out right now. Might be a little scared now.

Watching KOLR10 radar coverage. They are wall to wall with radar and weather staff. Mostly they are repeating National Weather Service warnings and reports of tornados. Interestingly, they can switch their Doppler radar to show wind direction and speed to get an idea of tornado activity. Hopefully this will save someone's life.
