A reader commented my thoughts about Apple iPod pointing to his interesting blog entry. Is iPod something users don't need - but want nevertheless.

Astronomers spot fun-sized solar system: "This is the smallest potential solar system ever seen, and could help scientists understand more about how planetary systems form. It also raises the possibility that the universe could be littered with planetary systems orbiting bodies barely bigger than planets themselves." [The Register]

Set the spelling language in Pages: "Apple's new iApp Pages makes beautiful documents. I like the feature set a lot, too. But there's one bewildering setting that took me forever to figure out: multiple language support." [macosxhints]

I'm currently testing Pages and Keynote 2. The new version of Keynote seems to be better in importing PowerPoint presentations, but is not quite perfect. (It did warn about some fonts which caused problems.)

Pages is more difficult to describe. It is a simple yet powerful page-layout program and a "lite" text editor - but I'm not yet convinced of the usefulness. Perhaps I should make a newsletter or something with it to really test it out. But the interface is really simple, although there are quite a few features included.

Keynote improved a lot in version 2. Probably Pages will also improve a lot. The first version is still work in progress.

Podcasting as an equalizing technology: "[Podcasting] is quickly becoming another of the Internet's equalizing technologies. [...] By bringing the cost of broadcasting to nearly nothing, it's enabling more voices and messages to be heard than ever before. [...] For listeners, podcasting offers a diverse menu of programs, which can be enjoyed anywhere, anytime." [New Media Musings]
