How much less do I exist? "It's depressing. For so long I had come to believe that a search for my name would give my weblog as the No.1 result. But, as I reported at the beginning of November my blog has disappeared from a bunch of search terms. [...] I tried contacting Google but no response. I can't see any logic to it. For 2 years or more my blog was me as far as Google is concerned. Now it's not and I can't seem to do anything about it." [Curiouser and Curiouser!]

Andy Rosen: "I was a rock photographer working in London 1976-1984. I worked for Record Mirror, Sounds, NME, The Face, Blitz and many Record Companies. This is my private collection. These pics have been stored since the Punk Days. This is the first time they can be seen in 25 years."

What is your dangerous idea? "The history of science is replete with discoveries that were considered socially, morally, or emotionally dangerous in their time; the Copernican and Darwinian revolutions are the most obvious. What is your dangerous idea? An idea you think about (not necessarily one you originated) that is dangerous not because it is assumed to be false, but because it might be true?"

You've got to be brain damaged: "I guess you've got to be brain damaged to not worry about stigmatizing yourself by being a decent human being. How embarrassing it is to be friendly and companionable with someone you don't know. What shameful behavior that is." [kuro5hin.org]

Wikipedia vs Britannica. Apples vs Oranges: "The biggest lesson of the information age is that all media is to be taken with a critical eye, and that no information is valuable until you also understand its source." [The Fishbowl]

Xooglers: "Xooglers is a blog by a couple of ex-Google employees, who share their experiences. [...] this is a couple of very smart people, but still they feel that they didn't entirely measure up to working for Google. Particularly one of them, who was a venerated rocket scientist Ph.D. at JPL, but at Google he rather felt himself to be in the lower 25%, prone to screw up and just not measure up to everybody else. Which mostly says something about the quality of people working at Google." [Ming the Mechanic]
