The most notorious are, of course, the rise of New Math in the 60s and 70s, and the corresponding backlash against it in the late 70s and 80s. There is increasinly surveillance on all levels from streets and public buildings to homes to airports etc. What is the cost to society? When huge datasets are mined for information about suspicious activities, what happens when thousands are innocently accused? (My new column in Finnish, Elvis, iPod ja valvontayhteiskunta.)
