I have reasonably happy with Google for my search purposes. Often finding the information you are looking for takes a while, but usually Google deliver. But every once in a while I look at alternatives, such as the new version of Ask.com described by NYT. However, for me Ask.com failed to answer. After a couple of tries I realized I get better results from Google, which is far from perfect but at least it is better than Ask.com currently. But your needs may be different, so by all means check Ask.com out.
