Google's Schmidt joins Apple's board of directors: "Apple CEO Steve Jobs says the CEO of Google brings a focus on innovation and extensive experience to Apple's board." [Macworld] I would have thought this an unlikely alliance, but on the other hand Google and Apple make an interesting pair.
