MSV - a beautiful piece of work

MSV - a beautiful piece of work [Sean McGrath, CTO, Propylon]

I totally agree. Not only can MSV work with DTD, RelaxNG and XSDs (as well as Relax and TREX), it also works on any SAX stream in a polymorphic manner - so validation can be pipelined with any SAX logic you have. Also you're in full control of the validation - no need to mess with your XML. 

I used MSV in the validate library for Jelly which can be useful in unit testing of web applications and web services. Anyone familiar with SAX will find MSV a breeze to use.

Water: Jelly Competitor?

Water: Jelly Competitor?. Water lang.org presents a commercial (yet free?) XML-based language not unlike Jelly, but then again, completely unlike Jelly. Waterô is a new all-purpose Web programming language that delivers both power and simplicity. A quick-ref sheet is available.... [bob mcwhirter]

Thanks for the link Bob. I've taken a look at Water and I'm sure Jelly can do similar things, plus Jelly can integrate cleanly with Ant, Velocity, XSLT, JavaScript, Jython, BeanShell etc.

What I really don't get about Water is - its not using XML syntax. So a Water script isn't XML parseable. So why bother using XML-like syntax at all?

Jelly is really just XML duct tape, allowing you to turn XML into scripts that do stuff. The reason its XML is to reuse parsers, validators, editors and related tools.
