For some time I've been using NetNewsWire (Pro) as my news aggregator. Its an awesome piece of software, though only available to OS X folks. NetNewsWire is scriptable via AppleScript.
What I want to be able to do is read all my news while communiting on my PDA (Zaurus) or catch up on news with NetNewsWire when I'm using my PowerBook. So I tried hacking some of Rob Jorgensen's scripts to generate HTML of all outstanding news in NetNewsWire. Being a complete AppleScript newbie it didn't seem to work first time.
I mailed the NetNewsWire support list and hey presto Rob Jorgensen came to the rescue again and immediately posted this script which will dump all your new mail as a piece of HTML (an open it in TextEdit too). Awesome!
One minor quirk of NetNewsWire seems to be that if you have the Show Aggregated New Items option enabled the script generates the wrong source description - it always says '(new headlines)' - so I recommend leaving that option off for now.
Update: there was a bug in Rob's script which didn't show all new news, just most of it. I have hacked it a little and it seems to work perfectly now for me. There's my hacked copy here if you want to use it. Just drag it into NetNewsWire's scripts folder and its ready to use.
This script is so useful, it should be included in the NetNewsWire distribution giving Rob due credit.
