My blog is rapidly turning into an OS X blog rather than Java / Open source blog - I'm just having so much fun being a newbie Mac user finding lots of great software available for OS X. I'll return to talking about Java/open source real soon...
Latest on my list of OS X software finds is Clutter. Just start it up and it'll show you the album cover of what you're playing in iTunes by searching Amazon. Neat! Shows the cover in a window you can drag onto your desktop - kinda like virtually spreading your CDs on a table - it shows the picture in the Dock and you can right click to go straight to a track on the album.
It was only yesterday that I realised the 17" PowerBook has an inbuilt microphone so that using the new iChat AV I can just chat to folks over the web using my voice. Am gonna have to get one of those groovy iSight cameras and do proper web based videoconferencing.
Its wierd; I've turned into a complete Mac-lover this year since getting my first Mac :). I never really remember having much feelings towards other computers I've had over the last 20 years. I remember lots of frustrations, crashes & problems with Windows machines (even when doing something radical like trying to run a game I'd just bought!). On *nux boxes I was totally happy hacking but would never dare try anything with exotic hardware like CD/DVD/digital cameras & camcorders; I just never had the time for the fiddling around to get that to work.
But now I love my Mac and once you love a Mac there's no going back! The other thing I've noticed since becoming a Mac-lover is - I now wanna buy anything Apple comes out with. From iSight, the lovely looking G5 (even though I don't really need a desktop), those awsome looking cinema screens, iPod etc. I'm also itching to get my hands on Panther... I'm totally addicted now. I wonder if Apple puts nicotine in the keyboards or something :)
