What, Me Worry?
For the most part, Annual Reports are pretty boring reading - if you actually do more than fan through the pages. But the 2002 Cognex Annual Report is a keeper. Cognex is the world leader in the machine vision industry - working on computers that “see.”
Their annual report is in the format of Mad magazine. It’s got an Alfred E. Newman-esque drawing of the CEO on the cover and is printed in the Mad Mag newsprint.
It includes the Mad Mail Department and the classic cartoons including a Spy vs Spy. It even has the classic Mad fold-in on the back inside cover.
It’s a cool company and the annual report is a reflection of that. Some “serious” investors may be turned off but I thought it was great.
