U.S. authorities said they have cracked an international software piracy ring that was illegally selling copies of software created by industry giants Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) and Adobe (Nasdaq: ADBE) .
Federal and local authorities in San Jose, California, arrested more than 20 suspects, mostly in the San Francisco Bay Area, after the individuals were indicted by a federal grand jury, according to published reports.
The sting, which is being called "Operation Cyberstorm," is the largest government crackdown on software piracy since a US$1 billion bust of an alleged piracy group known as DrinkOrDie late last year.
