How do you find someone in a crowd of 40,000? You use your cell phone and nearby landmarks, that's how. We knew Ian was going to be at the ACL Music Festival on Saturday and we had a loose plan to meet and see the Blind Boys of Alabama.

When we got to the place to catch the bus, the line was over 7 blocks long. After several failed, furtive attempts to call a taxi we started walking to Zilker park. The heat took a toll and after a mile and a half we were finally able to emulate a NY move and hail a cab.

We got to the festival and found long lines waiting to redeem tickets for the required two day wristband. I mean lines about two hours long. After 45 minutes in line, with little movement, the authorities moved the wristband dispersion to the people. Yea team!

Once in the park we could see the immensity of the problem. There were 10,000 people in front of the stage to see Los Lobos. I left a message on Ian's phone, and later we left another describing our location, color of the blanket, etc. He found it (the blanket) during the Wilco show - we were up close to the stage during that one. Then we found him on our return to the shaded area.

What a great musical and people experience. Austin was weird that day and the next. Or let's say that what makes Austin weird was all over the place. I think it may also be what makes Austin great. So let's not be so quick to judge weird as something to be changed.

Later dudes...
