In Praise of Mom and Dad's Business

"The spirit of family enterprise gives dignity and meaning to our lives, and is not only a spur to achievment but also a check on excessive ambition. It links the generations in a chain of generosity and gratitude. We would all be better off if we reflected more consistently and deeply not only on our debt to our ancestors but also on what we owe our descendants" (p. 105).
Many of my years of employment were spent working for and with family members. The years that I did not work for the "family business" I felt somehow disconnected from the ebb and flow of family life. I loved the years working with my mother and father, brothers and sisters, uncles, aunts and cousins...and i owe all of those years of feeling deeply connected to the vision and sacrifices of my parents. Thank you, Mom and Dad. And thank you for your extraordinary example of generosity, love and admonition that family "sticks together for the long haul."
Speaking of long haul...don't you have a 50th anniversary coming up next month?! DisneyWorld, here we come!!!!!!!!!!!!
