OK, the campaign is officially underway.  Met with the Dr. George Simkins PAC Sunday evening for a brief 15 minute interview.   Steve, Alma, Earl, Skip, George, Carolyn the whole crew.  They liked my answer on a bigger jail just meaning more prisoners.  Seemed to like the idea of lowering costs of doing business in the county across the board rather than through case-by-case incentives that are prone to favoratism and corruption.

Did not like my evasive questions regarding a minority business board to assure that minority businesses get their fair share of county contracts.  I should have stressed that I agreed it is ridiculous that a minority population of 25% is only getting a few percent of the contracts doled out by the county.  However, I had too many questions regarding how this board would work and have authority.  My concern was agreeing to something that sounded like a head count addition to the county budget.  When I get back to them I have to make the proposition that I would be happy to vote against all staff budget and purchase requests unless the county purchasing managers showed reasonable progress in this area...as opposed to doing essentially nothing as is the current case.

They did all shake their heads wondering how a Libertarian can also be working for The John Birch Society.  Got a laugh out of Earl Jones though when I suggested his views on who runs things isn't that far off from the Birch Society's perspective.  Having to rush on to the next interview (one of my likely oppenents Mary Rakestraw) I left without remembering to mention that Billy Yow is not and, as far as I can tell from the records, has never been a member of the JBS.  (Not looking good either on getting approval if he ever wants to apply for membership.)
