Religion in Japan (Part I)
The church here is just a building to have weddings in. The rate of Christianity is something less than 1% in Japan and not particularly growing unless you count the two million or so people who belong to the sect that believe Jesus was buried in Japan at the age of 106.
The unlrelated parking lot in front of the church was mostly empty due to rain limiting the turn out at the bus pickup point for the International Day of Peace and Prayer at the base of Mount Fuji. We passed on this ourselves due to having a commitment to see a middle school band concert.
Afterwards on the walk back to our car from the concert we did stop by the Sengenjinja (shrine) in Fujinomiya which though under renovation is still asking people in this sign here to maintain good fortune by praying to the god of Mt. Fuji.
