Campaign '04 Kick Off

capo-badnarikMy public campaign for District 7 Guilford County Commissioner officially launched yesterday at the Greensboro Fun Fourth Festival. Not famous yet, but soon you may recognize that guy in the handshake as Michael Badnarik, Libertarian Candidate for President who stopped by our LP booth to rally the troops and meet the locals. If we can get our guy in a national debate spot with Bush and Kerry he will be the next president of the United States. He is knowledgeable, convincing, sincere, honest and dedicated to the cause of human liberty -- and not much taller than me - all the traits that would be difficult to ascribe to the "other" guys.

As for my campaign, I was able to get out a few pieces of my new tri-fold promo.  Attendance for this year's festival was a disappointment though. To confirm my perception, I checked with the people who really know --- the food vendors.  Their responses ranged from "way down" to "less than half of last year." A script sellers made the bet that a couple of thousand people would show up on Sunday thinking the festival must be on the fourth like almost every year.

Other politicking:

Doug Parrish running for Commissioner at Large stopped by and was friendly. His campaign business card says, "Better Jobs, Better Schools." Looks like "better" might be the operative word in this year's races.

ftaabooth2004We were just a two booths down from the Democratic booth loaded with John Kerry paraphernalia. Their candidate did not stop by to say, "hello." See if you can tell what is obviously missing from their FOURTH OF JULY booth. Hint: It is not missing from The John Birch Society, "Stop the FTAA" booth that was between the Dems and LPers.
