Y2K Deja Vu

Wired has a nice interview with the guy who took Richard Clarke's place as uber cyber security guy.  The "what if" questions reminds me of the same "hype" concern which surrounded Y2K, mostly about critical failures that would place life and limb at risk -- and never happened.  While the concerns for security are real, are we spending too much time worrying about hypotheticals that may never occur?
