I jinxed it ... I had to go tempt the techno gods and brag about just how great my Nokia 3650 phone is and how much I was enjoying it. I have done countless demos for people all over the place. Well since I bragged about what a wonderful job Nokia/Symbian did on the system and how rock solid it is ... I got slapped back down to earth today.
I was just about to enter a reg code for an application that I bought when the phone froze up. I decided to just pull a hard reboot and restart the thing expecting it to recover its self and return to state. WRONG! I restarted it and it hung. I tried multiple restarts and still got the Nokia logo of death, no OS. Being a software professional I knew that if reboots don't work ... start changing things. I took out the battery, the SIM, the MMC card in various orders and finally found that if I took out the MMC card it would boot again. 2 hours of research and fancy trickery trying to keep the battery power on while sliding the MMC card back into the slot under the battery I finally was able to reformat the card using a system utility. Thankfully I had just done a full back up the night before in prep for my travels next week.
None of us are perfect in software, but we all have a very long way to go. Atleast I got my phone back up and running.
