Paul Lake has a glowing review of Tim Murphy's new book Very Far North at Contemporary Poetry Review. I haven't read it yet, but Tim's prosemetrium, Set the Ploughshare Deep, is wonderful and still in print. His first book of poems, The Deed of Gift, appears to be out of print. I lied. I have nothing to say about the depressing state of poetry blogs until someone convinces me otherwise. Please. The poetry news this week has been Amiri Baraka's performance as Poet Laureate of New Jersey. He's had a few defenders on the New Poetry mailing list, but even on the left the general opinion (and mine) seems to echo this piece from The New Republic. New Poetry, by the way, is well worth checking out.
