After installing Solaris 7 today (it was necessary, don't get me started) I realized that a core system is about 53 MBs in size. I didn't try the core install for Solaris 9 yet, but I will keep you posted.
Point is, '/' was filled with a whopping 19 MB and '/usr/' contained about 34 MB. The system had 'sendmail', 'ftp' and all the other things needed for a basic server that can be really secured and configured. Don't try this with M$ products without qualified supervision and some Valium. ;-)
