Needless to hint that this is a piece about SCO's latest FUD campaign ;-)

Daring Fireball shows by example how to profit from the BSD part inside OS X. The usage of the Unix commands inside AppleScripts is a great benefit for all Apple users.
For those of you who are new to the whole *ix thing, the basic idea behind Unix-like OSes is to have a set of tools that are fit to do a certain thing and it's up to the programmer/user to chain these tools to do something meaningful (compared to M$ approach to dictate the user what can be done in the first place).
