On Signing Pots-

David Hendley has a nice bit about what he considers when signing his pots. He sketches out the different things do to the bottom of their pots, from illegible scrawls to stamped based ads.

I think it depends on the piece, but I whole heartily agree with him for the pots he is making. On some of my more swirly pieces I'll use a more flamboyant signature. I would consider just a chop mark for another type of piece.

So what is on the bottom of the pot should correspond to the artist's intended meaning of the piece -because how it is done carries meaning.
