First Light- It's that time of the year to remember, and pay the bill, that this blog started 3 years ago this month. Oct 12th 2002. The day after is a bit more exciting. 6:54:46 AM |
Astro Tours- In honor of Mar's close encounter, I've put up a podcast about Mars (using wikipedia material) and set it to music ("N3" by Philippe Chavaroche.) Something to listen to when out looking at Mars at night! 7 Megs, 7 Min. My previous experiment with this format is about M13. 6:45:44 AM |
Astronomical Decorations- As long time readers of this blog know, I have been doing on-going research into decorations on ceramics that convey astronomical information. In the latest Sky and Telescope (Vol 110, No 6) Clyde Hostetter writes about a metal bowl that is decorated with elements that correspond to the phases of Venus. He makes a good case as how the decorations follow the celestial events. He has written about it and a ceramic bowl in his book Star Trek to Hawa-i'i. I'll be trying to get that book through the local library for sure. 6:35:58 AM |
