Site Profile: Learning Objects--CIE, UWM The Center for International Education at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee maintains this interesting little site. It contains a special collection of learning resources on Global Studies Learning for instruction and self-study, but also general sections on What are Learning Objects? Other Learning Objects, Organizations, plus a Bibliography, and links to Learning Objects Collections. This site illustrates some of the issues connected with locating and classifying learning resource sites because one would not ordinarily seek out a Center for International Education web site expecting to find materials related to learning objects; the site could be classified in the discipline-specific category, but it also provides general guidelines and links to general collections. This site is interesting as a model for local, discipline-specific sites, because, to be most useful to local instructors, most such focused sites would need to be similarly organized: with some general guidelines to the world of learning objects, links to general collections to enable broader searches, and then a specific collection of resources on the topics most of interest to instructors in the special field of study represented by the site. 6:59:49 AM    COMMENT []
