A Very Human Sort of Art--Post from Ken Smith This post from Ken Smith in his Weblogs in Higher Education conveys the special value of new and new/old explorations, what Zen writers call "the beginner's mind." I believe one of the great values of the Web is found in the multitude of opportunities available for intellectual exploration, explorations in which beginners are often readily welcomed and tutored. I had a similar experience recently as I began to explore programming in Python, after not undertaking any real programming projects for twenty years. ____JH __________ A very human sort of art. I hadn't planned on taking up chess again -- I played in junior high school and a bit of high school, and then one game every decade or so after that. But now I see that it is a way to spend time with my eldest daughter -- she's caught the chess bug and has been playing a lot over the last few months. And that brings me into a new realm of blogging, as a reader, as I mentioned the other day. It's a good reminder to dive into a new region of blogging once in awhile -- it's good to recall...
