Just out: Moanin at Midnight; Howlin Wolf story reviewed In it the writer apparently reveals that Hubert Sumlin said Wolf killed a man [chopped off top of his head with a hoe]. This was something Slim told us during course of Sunnyland Blues book work. Wasnt used because it couldnt be verified. Well here is a second source. I guess it is somewhat corroborated now. At least that it might have been something Wolf claimed. Dont know what to make of it. One could not know entirely what went on. Got to face it: Wolf as musical innovator holds much menace. Read NYT review.

Failed project talking or Tales of the FBI Failed projects don't talk, at least not too often. But we should listen to them when they do. People generally want to focus on the positive, but we need to educate ourselves and a trip up a rocky road can be more educational than a cruise down the autobahn. The FBI's Trilogy IT modernization program, heavily documented by now, is a case in point. On adtmag.com, June 14, 2004
