bluejay   bluejay    My Bluejays Are Back!

I've been broke and haven't had peanuts to put out for the critters for a while so the jays quit stopping by. (They used to wake me up every morning by sitting in the tree right outside my bedroom window and letting me know in no uncertain terms that they were ready for breakfast.) The squirrels have been munching on the goodies for about a week now but only this afternoon did the jays bother to check back.

By the way, these are Steller's jays—not that you can tell from those really awful pix I got from my desk with my toy of a digital camera. These birds are very definitely jays—and blue—and referred to simply as "bluejays" in casual conversation. (We don't have "real" bluejays around here.)

Confused Kitty

confused cat About an hour ago my upstairs neighbors' indoor-only cat jumped/fell from their deck, a dark streak dropping right past my sunporch window. Cat seems unhurt but totally startled to be on the lawn rather than looking down at it. Don't think the folks upstairs have noticed that he/she (?) is missing yet. They didn't hear my knock on their door and I don't have a phone number to just call them. I expect eventually they'll show up out in the yard looking. I think the cat is now hiding out under the hedge, waiting for somebody to come rescue him/her.

Friday Five — Organized?

1. Would you consider yourself an organized person? Why or why not? On my healthier days I'm definitely organized. Unfortunately, on my less healthy days everything goes to pieces so all my healthy time goes to trying to get back on top again.

2. Do you keep some type of planner, organizer, calendar, etc. with you, and do you use it regularly? Yes, though there's not much these days to put on my calendar.

3. Would you say that your desk is organized right now? I know where everything is that's on it. The question is, can I get to the stuff on the bottom of the piles without avalanching everything else!

4. Do you alphabetize CDs, books, and DVDs, or does it not matter? Books, definitely! Videotapes are numbered and I have an index database on the computer. Don't have enough CDs or DVDs yet to worry about it.

5. What's the hardest thing you've ever had to organize? Anything I really really really didn't want to do in the first place. (My SSI application comes to mind!)
