Banks vs Credit Unions

The war of words between banks and credit unions continues. A bill sponosered by Jeff Alexander would force multicounty credit unions to lose the tax exempt status of their retained earnings. This is not just a Utah issue.

Zions Bank VP Warns of the need to Raise Taxes

Kent Mitchie, a Zions Bank VP and economic advisor to Governor Leavitt has recommended raising sales, income, and gasoline taxes to avoid jeopardizing the state's bond rating.
