Utah Facing Neurosurgeon Crisis
Because of high-priced lawsuites and the resulting high costs of malpractice insurance, Utah is one of 25 states facing a shortage of neurosurgeons. A study done conducted by several medical groups found that  premiums for liability coverage for neurosurgeons in 2002 increased 36% and 70% of neurosurgeons have indicated they have made some change in their practice.
