I've been meaning to do something like this for a while, too. In So Why Are You Voting for George W Bush?, Dare Obasanjo asks for perspectives on why people are choosing to vote for Bush.

I'd be interested to know how informative Dare has found the responses. I didn't see anything too new. However, I do continue to be surprised by how much gay marriage motivates conservatives, and I had to respond on Dare's thread to some of the statements made on that topic. I was talking with a friend the other day who is conservative but who admitted to starting to feel more drawn to liberal ideas. Despite that, he still couldn't get past the "gay marriage thing".

I really don't get it. How do conservatives imagine it is going to affect them or their families? Feel free to chime in here if you think you have a particularly compelling explanation.
